A MESSAGE FROM ST. MICHAEL’S YOUTH WORKER
I feel very privileged that I have been asked to provide the leadership for youth ministry for St. Michael’s. There are many gifted and talented youth in our parish and I am honoured to provide them with many different opportunities ranging from community involvement with our partnership with Boys and Girls Club, mission work around the city, participation within the parish, both self and team building, and of course, some fun.
I will continue to meet on a regular basis with Rite 13. We had a very successful year working together, learning about how we can apply the foundation of faith that we have gained from their years in Sunday School to our busy lives. We will continue with the Rite 13 curriculum with the new additions to our group. I look forward to more time with them and at each meeting. I learn as much from them as they do from me.
It should be recognized that Rite 13 raised close to $1000 over the year for World Vision. The purchase of livestock, school supplies and medicine with their funds has been an eye-opening experience for the group. One member reflected on how it felt good to spend money on others rather than himself. We will continue with this kind of mission work. Although we are unable to go and work for those underprivileged countries, we are blessed with the opportunities to help them in any way that we can.
If there are any questions about either youth ministry within St. Michael’s or the Deanery, please feel free to get in contact with me at the church. I am in my office downstairs (in the glorified closet, as it has come to be known to some). My hours on Sundays are before and after the 10:00 am service, from 9:30-11:30 am. I welcome you to come in and chat, or poke around. There is always something new to look at; whether it be art on the walls or material that was covered during the day, I encourage you to come by and see.
Thank you for providing me with the amazing opportunity to teach and spend time with your children. It is an honour to spend time with them each week.
Many Blessings,
Brianna Locke |
