Parish Groups
Committees:
 
Volunteer Screening: Meet quarterly to implement the required procedures, to train volunteers and educate people in their duty of care to one another to make St Michael's a safe and fun place to be.
 
Parish Board: Annually elected group of varied parishioners meeting on the 3rd  Wednesday of each month to discuss both the maintenance and mission of the parish.
 
Finance: to assist the treasurer and help communicate financial matters to the parish.
 
Worship: to learn about worship, deal with issues that arise which relate to worship, educate the parishioners about worship and implement new practice.
 
Property: to deal with matters relating to property in and around the church.
 
Serving:
 
Dew Drop Inn: Soup Kitchen on the 3rd Thursday morning of each month to prepare the food and serve it to those in need. Contact Joan Kyle Tel: 345 6212
 
Choir:  Senior Practice Thursday 7-8 pm. For details about the Senior or Junior Choir, contact Janet Lortie the organist and director: 767 4711
 
Alongsiders: People with an active prayer life, those who are housebound and who pray for the parish and the wider world
 
Parish Visitors Group: Parishioners go out and visit others to build fellowship, provide support when needed, to be a link with the parish. Contact Joyce Primmer Tel: 767 5687
 
Ministries which assist with worship:
Altar Guild: prepare the church, set up the linen, candles Contact Elizabeth Stasiuk Tel: 767 1442
 
 
Others include Eucharistic assistants, readers of scripture and prayers, sides persons, greeters, lay readers, element presenters.
 
 Other ministries of outreach: As a parish we support others locally e.g. Lakehead University Student Food Bank, St Andrew's Dew Drop Inn and globally e.g. sponsoring children's education in Rwanda and a Tailoring project in Sudan. The Parish hall is used by groups such as AA and Breast Cancer Support.
 
Youth Activities:
 
Nursery - during the 10:00am service on Sunday 0-2yrs. Leader: Stacey Woods.

Junior Girls Auxiliary -  For girls age 6-10 years, meeting every Wednesday 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. October - May.

Life in the Eucharist – 7yrs old learn about Holy Communion, have a workbook to do with family, all done with their consent. Meal and commissioning service on completion. Phone Rev. Peter at 767 4711
 
Camp Gitchigomee - Every July, this Deanery of Thunder Bay Christian camp is full of fun and fellowship with Bible study, archery, swimming, canoeing, crafts, campfires and much more.
 
Youth Synod - Long weekend in July/August at Camp Manitou Georgian Bay age 13+. 1 or 2 from each parish go.
 
Deanery Youth Unit – Arranges and holds activities, events and fundraisers for youth. Contact Brianna Locke: 767 3831

Fellowship:
 
ACW ‘Anglican Church Women’ – 1st Tuesday of each month 1-30pm in the Parish Hall. Contact Eleanor Watts Tel: 767 7782
 
Tuesday Bible Group –Every 2nd week going from home to home. Adult Bible study exploring and discussing. Contact Carol Harding: 344-8606
 
Men’s Fellowship is held on Saturday mornings from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. approx 4 times a year. There is a time of devotion followed by a light breakfast and a speaker. Contact Rev Peter: 767 4711
 
Women’s Quilting Group -  Quilt together. Contact Karen Baker: 768-7944
 
Adult Discussion Groups - We gather 2 or 3 times a year for discussion and learning around a certain topic. In recent times they have included Islam, Environment "Climate Change", Amazing Grace - The life of William Wilberforce, Basics of Christian Living: prayer, the Bible.
